Copper Christmas 2003

HoHoHo
Here we go
Now it is time
For Zac to bust a rhyme

He would strain his brain
If he had to write a Quatrain
That would be tough
So we will simplify this stuff

There is no doubt
For Zac is a true scout
Everyone beware
For Zac’s is now a bear

This year Zac is on a mission
Because he wants to go fishin’
Mr. Klima took us on the sea
Where we hoped the Grouper would be
Most people would punt
We didn’t ‘cause we caught a dozen grunt

Jeff didn’t beg
Brenda was happy he bought the Big Green Egg
Jeff is just a beginner
Now he grills almost every night for dinner

A trophy was the prize
When Zac attended the rib off in disguise
He played with his apron like a toy
However to win things he had to beat Shawn boy

Tampa was on a roll
After we won the Super Bowl
The town was kind of dense
With no nickname for our defense

A long time ago they were born
Have you heard of the Tampa Bay Storm
The years have taken there toll
But again this year they won the Arena bowl

We saw Jimmy Buffett in the Florida cold
Because this year we broke the mold
This summer we chose to bake
At our cousins Tim’s on the lake

It changed our whole persona
With the death of our first dog Corona
She joined us shortly after marriage
All without a carriage

In our family Caymus
Was famous
She went quick
We miss her friendly lick

We miss our dogs
And the big logs
We cannot describe how we felt
With both gone we just melt

In May we went to Kauai
Which is part of Hawaii
Jeff was not on his turf
But he did get to surf

It worked like a fishing lure
Brenda was anxious to take the helicopter tour
She recommends the experience highly
After living for 5 days like the life of Riley

Grandma Copper and Ms. Reed sat for our rug rats
Which must be harder than herding cats
When it was time to say good bye
The kids had a good cry

Most birthdays are spent at the bar
This year Brenda got a new car
Jeff said it was just for ya
And bought her a Toyota Sequoia

Her Land Cruiser “Big Red”
Was put to bed
In her place full of might
Is a new car named “Big White”

We’d like a relation named the Big Bopper
This year we will see the birth of 2 kids named Copper
The first was named Samuel Austyn
The second is not born but will leave them tossin’

Jeff’s brother is quite a pip
Now he needs a sip
Early this year he was detecting
Now his wife Jean is expecting

The family was keen
This year at Halloween
For this years float
Jeff & Zac built a fishin’ boat

Jeff and Alan made a bond
As they split the running of the Hops marathon
They both saved face
And got second place
They could feel the power
And did the run in less than 3 hours

JT goes to lessons in the pool
And also started pre school
On occasion he balks
But so far rarely talks

He loves trains and trollies
And can be very jolly
But lets be level
Sometimes he is the devil

Zac has got it made
He is now in 2nd grade
Rarely does he moan
His teacher is Ms. Holmes

The tension is beginning to mount
As he focuses on reading counts
One day Zac might play  a llama
These days he goes to drama

He does not view it as hoity-toity
Jeff is now a pirate that looks at forty
Brenda took him to Chateau St. Michael
Via a tour called Sip and Cycle

Jeff was mesmerized
And then surprised
When the Weiner’s and Neils’ gave him a demo
Of wine tasting in Napa in a ‘limo’

Camping became our new hobby
Brenda prefers a location with a lobby
We even went to a rodeo where JT frowned
‘Til he took to the clown

Finally it is time to
End my rhyme
We wish you health and good cheer
‘Til we write again to you next year.

Happy Holidays!
Jeff, Brenda, Zachary, and JT
